Introducing Dr Rangi De Silva

I’m a specialist female obstetrician and gynaecologist based at the Mercy Hospital.  Caring for women and their families during the course of their pregnancy and birth is my favourite part of the job! In my public role at the Mercy Hospital and my role as a lecturer with the University of Melbourne, I enjoy regularly teaching medical students and supervising trainees in both obstetrics and gynaecology. I also have a long-standing passion for global health, overseas volunteer work and research and am completing a PhD focussing on reducing maternal morbidity and mortality in the Asia-Pacific.  I also work closely with the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health, where I have most recently volunteered, as a consultant for the World Health Organization in improving the quality of antenatal care and services in the country.
